Changing Retail Fashions
in Albury C.B.D
Albury is a city of 30 thousand people.  The main street in Albury is Dean
Street, and has always been  'the place to shop'. In Dean St. there were
once 473 retail shops and only 2 major buildings. The first Mayor of Albury
was James Thomas Fallon in 1859.
This is a picture of Dean St. in Central Albury.
-See how old-fashion the cars look.
Today's sales are displayed in windows but way back in time, you couldn't
walk into a shop and choose some shoes in the same way that we do today.
You had to ask the Shoe Maker for some shoes and he would have to
measure your feet, before making them.

Also, in the olden days, in food shops, customers walked  from counter to
counter, buying a few things at a time from the person behind the counter.
These days, we just collect everything in our trolley and pay for it at the
checkout.  Things have really changed!
